This is also our final draft script for the audio trail. It was improved from the beginning script as it sums up our radio show in a short 15 second video which can be used to advertise our actually radio show. It shows presenters Evie and Hannah taking it in turns when talking in the script, this will be good for the audience because they won't get bored of hearing one voice for too long.

LO2: Ben Burtt research
Ben Burtt is an American sound designer who has worked on various films including Star Wars and Indiana Jones series. Having worked from 1975 to the present day, I will be researching his work on Pixar film Wall-E and how he created the foley sound used in this film.
Ben Burtt originally got inspiration from Disney films and the props they used to create their vast amount of different sounds in their films, where they made custom built devices to get their desired sound.
To create sounds Burtt uses a variety of techniques to get the appropriate sound for what his intentions are. He ranges from using instruments such as drums and strings to machines for example rain makes and sheet metal. This is all part of his Foley artist work to get the desired sound.
He Initially went out into the real world with a tape recorder to get ambient sound which can be used for more work. The timings of the sound would be tailored to match the picture by moving the microphone closer or further away. When he finds a sound what wouldn't work in a scene he would abandon the science and would listen to what works emotionally, which shows the thoughtfulness towards how the sound will have an effect on the audience.
In Wall E Burtt uses a wide selection tools he uses to create the sound of the protagonist, for example an old army generator which is used for making Wall E when he has to be quiet- not going very fast, when Wall E gets going at high speed additional sounds are added which he uses a plane starter motor for this creates more sound.
This sound connects the film to the young target audience as it allows them to create a story in their head of what is happening, which is useful as the first 45 minutes of the film there is no dialogue, only robot voices which Burtt did to draw the target audience in to make them think they were believable characters

LO2: Experimenting with sound
Red squirrels like to look after their teeth by gnawing on pieces of dead deer antler, which are full of calcium
Male red squirrels each hold territories about the size of 34 football pitches.
A red squirrel’s tail is used for balance, communication, to slow them down when jumping and as a snuggly blanket which is handy for the cold.
Red squirrels can jump more than 2m and survive a fall of more than 12m without injury.
They are only 120,000 red squirrels left in Scotland, which is half the number of grey squirrels
Abernathy is the largest area of natural forest in the UK.
