- Explain how sound/ music is used to create a particular genre/mood in the clip from Saving Private Ryan - Analyse what effect this would have on the intended audience
The sound/ music is used to create a particular atmosphere of being at war in Saving Private Ryan as at the beginning of the clip it starts off more subtle to get the audience engaged with whats happening using sound such as waves crashing against the boat and engine noises, the sound of gun shots then start and explosions going off, this gets the audience into the intended mood of feeling sorry for the soldiers in the film and also relating it to real life. The effect this has on the audience make them want to watch the whole film as with the use of sounds interest the reader and draw them to it, although without any sound the scene wouldn't be as dramatic as it would be as it such a key feature in films.
The purpose of sound in this jurassic park clip is to show tension and gives of a dramatic feel to the audience more than it would if it didn't have any music. For example at (04:42) when the dinosaur appears the music gets quieter as the sound of the dinosaur got louder this added tension to the film and let the audience know that it was an important scene. The music is used throughout the whole clip to give a more melodramatic feel to it. The use of having sounds/music enhances the visuals as it allows he audience to focus more on the visuals when the sounds gets quicker or changes, this is good for this type of film as it is fantasy/ science fiction so the build up of music gets the audience excited to see what happens which is used a lot throughout the whole film. Also at the beginning of the clip when the music starts playing it is a lot more interesting for the audience to watch it as they enjoy it more with music, its also a lot easier to focus when there's music playing which gives the film higher rating by their audience than it would without any music. The sound of the drop of the helicopter also entertains the audience because it is plotting a scene to get the protagonists scared when entering Jurassic park, it makes the whole scene more dramatic for the audience more than it would without any sound.
DOOM
The purpose of sound in this gameplay scene for the game Doom is to entertain the audience and inform them of what is happening, the use of having sounds of monsters lurking tells the audience playing to watch out for example at 4:20 which shows a scene of one of the monsters almost making a roaring sound this is showing the audience to watch out for it and be wary. There's music playing throughout the whole clip however added sound effects are put on top of it to make it more dramatic for the audience, an example of when the music gets a lot quitter is at around 05:47 which has a woman talking over the music this is also giving off dramatic feeling to the player as the game is telling you when something bad is happening. The sound also enhances the visuals throughout the game play scene as it making the monsters seem more scary and raising the energy of the person playing more than it would without any sound or background music. The added audio effects throughout the scene especially when the flames/ gunshots are being shot at the player, this is telling the audience to move out the way which also gets the audience more excited when playing the game therefore enjoying it more when there is a wide range of different sound effects

The sound also enhances the visuals as it is telling us a story without the music it wouldn't be as appealing to watch because the audience may find it boring.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
The purpose of this gameplay is to entertain the You tubers subscribers with a clip of him playing Amnesia the dark descent, theres soundscape in here which is telling the reader that it is a horror genre of games with the use of creaky doors, someone sounding helpless, running water, rain, shadowed noises, silence, footsteps all these things are sowing the audience that it is a horror game. There is music playing throughout the clip however it gets quieter when there is dialogue for example at 07:55 when he is reading out a latter the music gets quieter as he carries on reading however when it fines the music carries on playing and fades into how the music was originally. Theres also sounds of whispers/ creaky doors at 09:00 this is giving the audience a sense of fear and excitement for them as they are watching the person play the game and know they are in trouble with these sounds behind them.
The sound from this clip enhances the visuals as it is getting the payer and audience scared when watching as things can pop out at them with sound effects added to enhance these visuals making them seem more scary, they also set the scene with visuals therefore enhancing them for example at 16:37 when the wall tumbles down this is setting the scene for the player knowing that something has gone wrong, by using sound is this scene the audience know what has happened without looking at the visuals. Theres also a scene at 49:52 which is showing one of the monsters jump out on him, this is vital to enhance this visuals with music as they start playing quite misty sounds of the monster getting closer to him, which entertains the audience as it is showing them through the use of sound how it can be scary and it is noticed more by the game player and audience when there is audio on as the makers plot what is happening with the use of these soundscapes of monsters appearing, creaky doors, wooden floorboards all these excite the audience.

The narrative of this radio 1 life hacks program is about a young girl who has became the world champion freestyler footballer and she talks about her journey throughout this happening. In this radio link, they use 'bed' when the presenter is talking the effect this has on the audience is to make it sound more interesting. There is also some more music at around 2 minutes 16 when the woman who's story it is is talking, this gives off a dramatic effect to the listener trying to make them more attention, the music then carries on playing throughout the whole story but gets quieter and louder when someone is talking etc and when there is a break from dialogue. There is a Pre-Rec when Liv Cooke is telling us the story about being the current freestyle football world champion, this is a pre recorded clip, to be played at the live radio show. There is also a 'Sting' when Livs relative starts talking about live football journey, this is at 03:45 as there is no talking except for the sound of the instrumental music to break it apart.
